Copenhagen is an expensive city and international students may find it tough to make ends meet. Here are some University Post tips to find a job

Finding a job in Copenhagen can be a tough job in itself for international students.

However, there are many places where you will be really appreciated as foreigner: Take advantage of this, and do not give up.

There are actually many options to earn some money, get experience, and meet people during your time abroad.

10. Companies related to your own country
The easiest places to find a job as an exchange student are places which somehow bear a relation to your own nationality. For example: if you are Italian, an Italian restaurant. It could be restaurants serving dishes from your own country, bars or clubs, but also companies or any other institutions in Denmark from your country.

Ask for information about these places and where to find them in the embassy of your country in Copenhagen.

9. Clean rooms in hotels
This is one of the places in which internationals are more than welcome when finding employment.

Many cleaning staff are required, not only in hotels, but also in private homes, offices, hospitals, etc.

The advantage to this kind of position is that, in most of the cases, you are not going to be asked for Danish language skills.

8. Jobs Fairs
All students and new graduates from the University of Copenhagen are welcome to participate in different fairs that the university organises every year.

At a career fair, you will meet different companies and you will be able to have an informal talk with them.

7. International places
This is the best and easiest option for exchange students and other internationals looking for a job in Copenhagen.

Don’t just sit there! There are many cafés, bars, clubs or restaurants around the city where you will be more than welcome and appreciated as a foreigner.

Go for a walk near the Strøget and other tourist spots, and if you see a spot that looks they need international staff, go in and ask!

Other options are the Copenhagen Airport and, of course, the University of Copenhagen.

6. Take part in an experiment!
The Department of Economics of the University of Copenhagen is always running different types of economic experiments.

Typical experiments last a couple of hours and they may pay for it depending on your performance in the experiment.

Economic experiments are one thing. Medical experiments are another. This sounds scary, but most of the time it isn’t.

Right now, the Laboratory of Experimental Immunology is carrying out an experiment about the Yellow Fever Virus vaccination. Become a participant in this research and you will be paid for it. There is not any actual risk, you only have to donate some blood.
